A Celebration of Diversity and Empowerment at Menlyn Park
Monday 16th September 2024: On Saturday 14th September 2024, the highly anticipated Mrs. South Africa Real Women Fashion Show took centre stage at the iconic Menlyn Park Shopping Centre, drawing in an enthusiastic crowd to witness a stunning display of fashion, empowerment, and diversity.
Hosted in the Cavendish Court at Menlyn Park Shopping Centre, the event featured fashion collections from top local outlets, including Salvation, Belle Vita, Rural Goddess, Nicci Boutique, and Cocoberry. The looks were styled by the talented Anja Cruse-Bothma from iStyle, while the breathtaking flower wall, designed by Flora Mystique, set a fresh spring tone for the show.
The runway was graced by reigning Mrs. South Africa Tshego Gaelae, along with this year’s Mrs. South Africa Finalists, Mentors, and Alumni, made this event a true celebration of real women from all walks of life. A truly diverse group of women from varied backgrounds, including a lieutenant colonel in the SANDF, a 55-year-old grandmother, a deputy director in financial services, a stay-at-home mom, a nurse, a fashion designer, a lawyer and engineers. This array of roles highlighted the true essence of diversity and the powerful stories these women bring to the stage.
The audience was treated to an upbeat musical performance by Mrs. South Africa Alumni, Leme van der Walt and was kept engaged throughout by host, Jo Judnick-Wilson, former Mrs. South Africa 2022 and producer.
Nisha Kemraj, GM of Menlyn Park Shopping Centre, reflected on the impact of the event:
“Menlyn Park proudly hosted the Mrs SA finalists in a contemporary and superbly designed fashion show. The crowd cheered as each finalist showcased their skills and shared insights on how holding firm to one’s beliefs can lead to success. We are committed to supporting women leading change both in the boardroom and on the fashion catwalk. Menlyn is a platform for fashion artistry, and together, we will create many unique opportunities to promote self-awareness, confidence, and self-love.”

It was about embracing authenticity and highlighting the unique beauty, strength, and individuality of every woman on the runway. The event also included exciting giveaways and special treats, with The Barnyard Theatre Menlyn gifting 50 tickets to their current production Super Trooper, and Brentoni sunglasses being awarded to lucky audience members. A special moment came when one young girl had her wish granted, winning a birthday party package for ten guests at Rollercade Menlyn. Models enjoyed sweet treats courtesy of Krispy Kreme and coffee supplied by Wimpy, Menlyn
This inspiring event showcased not only the best of fashion but also the power and diversity of real women, further solidifying Mrs. South Africa’s mission to uplift and empower women across South Africa.
