South Africa is celebrating a historic moment as Tshego Gaelae has been crowned Mrs. World 2024 in a dazzling ceremony held in Las Vegas. Her victory is particularly momentous, as she becomes the first Black woman in the 40-year history of the Mrs. World competition to win this prestigious title.
Tshego follows in the footsteps of Candice Abrahams, who made history as the first South African to claim the global crown in 2016. Now, nearly a decade later, Gaelae’s win further cements South Africa’s legacy on the international stage.
Representing her country with grace, confidence, and purpose, Tshego captivated the judges and audience with her poise, intelligence, and commitment to empowering women. Beyond her striking beauty, she stood out for her advocacy work, which focuses on uplifting women and driving meaningful social change.
Dressed in a breathtaking custom gown by renowned South African designer Claris by Gerrit Pienaar from Pretoria, Gaelae embodied elegance and sophistication as she took center stage. Her show-stopping look was a true celebration of South African craftsmanship and couture, making her victory even more special.
“This moment is beyond my wildest dreams,” said an emotional Gaelae after receiving the crown. “I am honored to represent South Africa on the global stage and to use this platform to inspire women everywhere to embrace their power and purpose.”
The Mrs. World competition-the longest-running and most esteemed international pageant for married women- celebrates accomplished, philanthropic, and influential women from around the world.
