Contestant Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s)
1. What are the entry criteria for Mrs South Africa?
The following pre-requisites which must be fulfilled in order to enter Mrs South Africa 2025. While we do screen and conduct the relevant checks, it is also the contestant’s responsibility to check and ensure compliance with the criteria. All documents should ideally be certified within three months of submission.
Entrants and Contestants must fullfil all the following requirements:
- Entrant/Contestant has a South Africa Identity Document and is a citizen or permanent resident within the Republic of South Africa, with their indicated gender as female
- Entrant/Contestant is between the ages of 25 and 55 and should be turning 25 or 55 years of age, in 2025
- Entrant/Contestant is legally married in terms of the laws of the Republic of South Africa and in possession of a valid marriage certificate, issued by the South African Department of Home Affairs
- Entrant/Contestant has valid passport for travel purposes
- If the Entrant/Contestant does not possess a valid passport, she must apply for and obtain one as soon as is reasonably possible in 2024/25. This is because she may need a passport for international competition should she win the Mrs South Africa Pageant
- Entrant/Contestant has a valid South African Driver’s LicenseÂ
- If the entrant/contestant does not possess a valid South African Drivers Licence, she must apply for and obtain one as soon as is reasonably possible in 2024/25. This is because the prize package may include a car, should she win the Mrs South Africa pageant
- Should entrant be selected as Semi-finalist or Finalist, she will be required to avail herself for compulsory dates, as indicated on the 2024/25 Calendar. The format and details will be shared by the organisation closer to the time. The draft 2025 Calendar is up on the website in December 2024
- Entrant/Contestant should not be or fall pregnant during the journey. Mrs South Africa promotes and encourages family values and Mrs South Africa does not discriminate against pregnancy, it will be physically strenuous for both the contestant (and foetus) to compete in Mrs South Africa and at an international level (if she wins Mrs South Africa) while maintaining a healthy pregnancy
- Entrant/Contestant must not have been involved in any past activities that may place Mrs South Africa, its Pageant and/or organisers in a compromised and/or humiliating light both publicly and/or privately. These activities include, but are not limited to criminality, prostitution, nude public appearances, nude photography, and nude videography
- Should this come to light, Mrs South Africa reserves the right to revoke the entrant/contestant’s title with immediate effect
- Entrant/Contestant must not have a past or present criminal record or be involved in any criminality or any kind
- Should a contestant separate, divorce, or become widowed during her participation in the pageant, she must notify the Mrs South Africa Management Team immediately but will not be withdrawn and may continue in her year of entry
- Entrant/Contestant must not be an immediate family member of the Mrs South Africa Management Team
- Entrant/Contestant may be any height or weight as this is not restricted, as a condition for entry
- Entrant/Contestant may or may not have tattoos as this is not restricted, as a condition for entry
- Entrant/Contestant may have any educational background as this is not a condition for entry
- Entrant/Contestant need not have prior modelling experience is not a condition for entry
2. When do entries open and where do I find the entry form?
The entry form for the 2025 will be made available on the Mrs South Africa website in November 2024. Look out for it on the website then. In order to complete their entry, entrants will need to complete the six steps below:
- Read the Mrs South Africa terms and conditions, Entry Terms and Conditions and Privacy PolicyÂ
- Complete the entry form on the website and answer all the questionsÂ
- Attach two high resolution photographs to the online entry form
- Attach a copy of a valid SA ID & valid SA Marriage certificate
- Review the 2025 calendar which will be published in December 2024
- Pay the non-refundable application fee which will be confirmed closer to the time
- Successful entry will be confirmed by a website-generated confirmation email to the entrant’s specified email address
- Once all the steps above are completed, entrants will be emailed by the Mrs South Africa office and will receive further information in the coming months
- A valid operational email address must be completed on the entry form by the entrant, to allow for Mrs South Africa to communicate with all entrants
- Should an entrant not provide a valid working email address, Mrs South Africa Pty Ltd will not be held responsible for any comms they do not receive
- All cancellations of entry or withdrawal of entry must be submitted in writing and addressed to Chief Operating Officer, Marlene Reddy-Ribeiro marlene@mrssouthafrica.co.za
*NB* The act of completing and submitting your online entry form constitutes a binding agreement acknowledging that the above, as well the terms and conditions noted on website has been read, understood, and accepted by the entrant.
3. I have completed my online entry form. What happens next?
Once all the steps above are completed, entrants will be emailed by the Mrs South Africa office and will receive further information in due course. A valid operational email address must be completed on the entry form by the entrant, to allow for Mrs South Africa to communicate with all entrants. Should an entrant not provide a valid working email address, Mrs South Africa Pty Ltd will not be held responsible for any comms they do not receive. All entry forms will be screened in January 2025. Eligible entrants will be invited to a compulsory National Casting at the beginning of February 2025. More information on this will be provided closer to the time.
4. What dates should I be aware of?
Entrants should consult the draft 2025 Calendar which will be up on the website in December 2024.
5.What photos should I have to enter?
Entrants must submit two high resolutions photos with their online application i.e. one full length photo and one head and shoulders photo. This does not need to be professional photos.
Photos should be:
- One head & shoulders photo and one full length photo
- With the entrant only, in simple daywear
- Positioned against plain backgroundÂ
- With no one else in the photo
- A recent photo from this year
- High resolution in .jpeg or .png formatÂ
Photos should NOT be:
- Entrant’s wedding photos or
- A ‘Selfie’ orÂ
- Entrant in dress up costumes, gym wear or active wear or
- Entrant with other people or
- Screenshots from social media or
- Low resolution or in .pdf or .doc format
Should an Applicant require assistance with photographs, we recommend they contact Mrs South Africa’s official photographers, based in Gauteng, who may be able to assist them. *This is optional to utilise:
6. Do you have any weight or height restrictions?
No. We embrace women of all heights, sizes, body shapes etc. Therefore, we do not have any weight or height restrictions for entering Mrs South Africa.
7. Are tattoos allowed?
Yes. Tattoos are allowed.
8. Do I need to have a valid Passport to enter?
No. Entrants do not need a valid passport to enter Mrs South Africa but they must apply for it and obtain it as soon as possible in 2024/25. This is because a contestant may need to travel overseas for the Mrs World pageant, should they win Mrs South Africa.
9. Do I need to have my Driver’s license to enter?
No. Entrants do not need a valid South African drivers licence to enter. However, they should apply for obtain this as soon as possible in 2024/25. This is because the prize package, should they win, may include a car.
10. I work full time. Can I enter Mrs South Africa?
Yes. Mrs South Africa has had many titleholders and contestants who have full time jobs. The Management Team does take this into account, when planning the calendar and always try to plan around school holidays, long weekends etc. Mrs South Africa suggests all entrants consult the 2024/25 calendar, for the year ahead, and understand the compulsory dates that they will be required to present themselves for any events, judging etc. We then request that contestants discuss these dates with their families, employers etc., in advance of entering Mrs South Africa.
11. I am traditionally married. Can I enter Mrs South Africa?
According to South African law, customary or traditional marriages are recognised. Mrs South Africa recognises these as well. However, contestants need to apply for and obtain their valid marriage certificate from the South African Department of Home Affairs, prior to entry. This must be attached when completing the online entry form.
12. I am engaged. Can I enter Mrs South Africa?
Unfortunately not. Entrants need to be legally married, with a valid SA marriage certificate, when they enter.
13. I am married to a foreigner. Can I enter Mrs South Africa?
Yes. Entrants can enter if they are themselves a South African citizen or verified permanent resident.
14. I am married to a female. Can I enter Mrs South Africa?
Yes. Entrants may enter if they are married to same sex partner. Mrs South Africa recognises all marriages, including same sex marriages.
15. Do I have to be born female to enter Mrs South Africa?
No. Entrants do not need be born biologically female to enter Mrs South Africa. However, their current status, at Home Affairs, must reflect their indicated gender as female.
16. Do I have to be a mother to enter?
No. Contestants do not need to have children to enter Mrs South Africa.
17. What if I am pregnant? Can I enter?
Mrs South Africa promotes and encourages family values. Mrs South Africa does not discriminate against pregnancy, it will be physically strenuous for both the contestant (and foetus) to compete in Mrs South Africa and at an international level, if she wins Mrs South Africa, while maintaining a healthy pregnancy. Therefore, entrants or contestants should therefore not be or fall pregnant during the journey.
18. What are the minimum educational qualifications to enter?
Mrs South Africa embrace contestants from all backgrounds. Therefore, there are no minimum educational qualifications to enter.
19. Do I need modelling training or prior pageant experience to enter?
No. Contestants do not need prior modelling or pageant experience in order to enter Mrs South Africa.
20. Do I have to wear a swimsuit?
Contestants will be required to model in swimwear, as per International Pageantry regulations during Semis Judging, Finals Judging and on stage during the Prelims & Finale Crowning event. Mrs South Africa embraces women of all shapes and sizes, and our program promotes confidence and being comfortable in your own skin.
21. Who oversees the Judging?
Mrs South Africa is run according to international standards, following a strictly audited process and winners are chosen by an independent Selection Committee. The Judging process, for each stage of the competition, is discussed with the contestants, in advance. Contestants will be required to model in swimwear, as per International Pageantry regulations during Semis Judging, Finals Judging and on-stage during Prelims & the Finale Crowning event. We embrace women of all shapes and sizes, and our program promotes confidence and being comfortable in your own skin.Â
Contestants understand that the Judges’ decisions are Final and other than the results announced on stage, no other results will be made available, at any other stage. Contestants understand that no correspondence will be entered into with the Selection Committee, Auditors, Mrs. SA Management Team, or any other associates/affiliates therewith, at any stage, even in future, with regards to the Mrs SA Judging processes. Accordingly, there is no right of appeal against the results of Mrs SA Judging processes, at any stage.
22. What can I expect as a Contestant?

• Follow us on social media as well as the current titleholders
• Check out the upcoming 2024/25 calendar when it is published
The journey will be discussed in detail with all entrants, should they be chosen as a semi-finalist and/or finalist. Contestants are then given the time to decide if they want to pursue the journey. During the semi-finalist stages of the competition, accommodation and travel will be to the contestant’s account. Mrs South Africa covers these costs during Finalist stage of the competition, subject to sponsorship.
Mrs South Africa Pty Ltd is not an non-profit organisation. We are a company and run as such. As such, fundraising, sponsorship and certain event attendance & involvement will be part of your journey as a semi-finalist and finalist journey, for Mrs South Africa, some of which is used towards company operating costs. We are open and transparent about the journey and are there to support you throughout.
23. What is my involvement with the official charities?
Mrs South Africa has partnered with great official charities, who make a significant contribution nationally. Semi-finalists are invited to create awareness for them and attend official charities’ events. Finalists will host a fundraiser for one of the official charities. 24. I have a few other questions. Who can I contact?
