3. Why is Mrs South Africa more than a Pageant?

Mrs South Africaâ„¢ is far more than a traditional beauty pageant. It is a self-discovery, personal development and female empowerment programme for married women, designed to help women become the best versions of themselves, find their voice, build confidence and create meaningful impact in their personal, professional and community lives.

The Mrs South Africa journey celebrates real, relatable and ambitious women from diverse backgrounds and gives them the opportunity to grow, learn, connect and develop skills that extend far beyond the competition itself.

The programme is built around four key Mrs SA Brand Pillars:

SELF DEVELOPMENT – developing the woman behind the title through workshops, webinars, subject-matter experts, mentors, life skills, confidence building, wellness, financial acumen and fundraising.

PLATFORM – developing your personal brand and creating opportunities through influencer marketing, social media, public speaking, media and press, brand partnerships, business opportunities, career advancement and potential international opportunities.

NETWORK – becoming part of a powerful sisterhood and building meaningful relationships through fellow contestants, alumni, mentors, sponsors, events and the wider Mrs SA community.

COMMUNITY – encouraging women to use their voices and platforms to make a difference through community involvement, charitable initiatives, role modelling and projects that uplift others.

The journey is therefore not simply about winning a crown. It is about who you become along the way.
Contestants are exposed to training, mentorship, personal and professional development, media opportunities, networking, fundraising, community initiatives and the opportunity to build a platform that can continue to benefit them long after their Mrs South Africa journey has ended.

4. How does Mrs South Africa operate?

It is important that potential entrants understand how Mrs South Africa operates. Mrs South Africa Pty Ltd is a commercial company, with a board of Directors, and is run as such. It is not a charity, NPO or PBO. The organisation operates primarily through sponsorships and official events, with income contributing towards the development programme, contestant training and upskilling, operational costs, event costs and production of official Mrs SA events.

As part of the Mrs South Africa journey, fundraising, sponsorship and certain event attendance and participation will form part of the experience for semi-finalists and finalists. Some fundraising and income generated through the programme contributes towards the operating costs of the company and the delivery of the Mrs South Africa programme.

We believe strongly in being open and transparent about this from the beginning. There should be no surprises about what the journey involves.

5. What is required from me during the journey?

If selected as a semi-finalist and/or finalist, the journey and it’s requirements will be explained, in detail, upfront. Contestants will then have the opportunity to consider whether the Mrs South Africa journey is right for them before making the commitment to proceed. Being part of Mrs South Africa requires time, energy, commitment and investment. It is an opportunity, but it is also a responsibility. Contestants will be expected to participate actively in the programme, attend required events and activities, engage with sponsors and fundraising initiatives, and represent themselves and the Mrs South Africa brand professionally throughout the journey.

During the semi-finalist stage, contestants are responsible for their own accommodation, meals and travel costs. There will be sponsorship and event requirements, as well as promotion of Mrs SA’s official sponsors, which will be clearly communicated upfront.

For those selected as finalists, Mrs South Africa covers certain accommodation and meals during designated parts of the finalist journey, subject to sponsorship. Finalists should also expect to participate in fundraising, sponsorship activities, events, content creation, workshops, community initiatives and other activities that form part of the Mrs South Africa journey.

The exact programme, dates, requirements and inclusions may vary from year to year. Mrs South Africa provides continuous support and professional tools to all contestants along the way.
