Contestant Frequently asked questions (FAQS)
1. What Can I Expect As A Contestant?
Mrs South Africa Pty Ltd is not an non-profit organisation. It is a company and run as such. As such, fundraising, sponsorship and certain event attendance & involvement will be part of the journey as a semi-finalist and finalist journey, for Mrs South Africa – some of which is used towards company operating costs. Mrs SA is open and transparent about the journey up front.
The journey will be discussed in detail with all entrants, should they be chosen as a semi-finalist and/or finalist. Contestants are then given the time to decide if they want to pursue the journey. During the semi-finalist stages of the competition, accommodation, meals and travel will be to the contestant’s account. Mrs South Africa covers some accommodation and meals during Finalist stage of the competition, subject to sponsorship.

2. I Work Full Time. Can I Still Enter Mrs South Africa?Â
Yes. Mrs South Africa has had many titleholders and contestants who have full time jobs. The Management Team does take this into account, when planning the calendar and always try to plan around school holidays, long weekends etc. Mrs South Africa suggests all entrants consult the 2026 calendar, for the year ahead, and understand the compulsory dates that they will be required to present themselves for any events, judging etc. Contestants should discuss these dates with their families, employers etc., in advance of entering Mrs South Africa.
3. I Am Traditionally Married. Can I Enter Mrs South Africa?
According to South African law, customary or traditional marriages are recognised. Mrs South Africa recognises these as well. However, contestants need to apply for and obtain their valid marriage certificate from the South African Department of Home Affairs, prior to entry. This must be submitted completing the online entry form.
4. I Am Engaged. Can I Enter Mrs South Africa?Â
Unfortunately not. Entrants need to be legally married already, with a valid SA marriage certificate, when they enter.
5. I Am Married To A Foreigner. Can I Enter Mrs South Africa?Â
Yes. Entrants can enter if they are themselves are a South African citizen or permanent resident of South Africa.
6. I Am Married To A Female. Can I Enter Mrs South Africa?Â
Yes. Entrants may enter if they are married to same sex partner. Mrs South Africa recognises all marriages, including same sex marriages.
7. Do I Have To Be Born Female To Enter Mrs South Africa?Â
No. Entrants do not need be born biologically female to enter Mrs South Africa. However, their current status, at Home Affairs, must reflect their indicated gender as female.
8. Do I Need To Have Children To Enter Mrs South Africa?
No. Contestants do not need to have children to enter Mrs South Africa.
9. What If I Am Pregnant? Can I Enter?
While the organisation celebrates and supports family values and does not discriminate against pregnancy, contestants should not be, nor become, pregnant during the Mrs. South Africa journey as participation in the programme and international competitions is physically demanding and could pose risks to both the contestant and the unborn child. The health and well-being of both remain a priority
10. What Are The Minimum Educational Qualifications To Enter?
Mrs South Africa embraces contestants from all backgrounds. Therefore, there are no minimum educational qualifications to enter.
11. Do I Need Modelling Training Or Prior Pageant Experience To Enter?
No. Contestants do not need prior modelling or pageant experience in order to enter Mrs South Africa.
12. Do You Have Any Weight Or Height Restrictions?
No. Mrs SA embraces women of all heights, sizes, body shapes, etc. Therefore, there are no weight or height restrictions for entering Mrs South Africa.
13. Are Tattoos Allowed?
Yes. Tattoos are allowed.
14. Do I Need To Have A Valid Passport To Enter?
No. Entrants do not need a valid passport to enter Mrs South Africa, but they must apply for it and obtain it as soon as possible. This is because a contestant may need to travel overseas to compete, should they win Mrs South Africa.
15. Do I Need To Have My Driver’s License To Enter?
No. Entrants do not need a valid South African driver’s licence to enter. However, they should apply to obtain this as soon as possible. This is because the prize package, should they win, may include a car.
16. Do I Have To Wear A Swimsuit?Â
Contestants will be required to model in swimwear, as per International Pageantry regulations, during Semis Judging, Finals Judging and on stage during the Prelims & Finale Crowning event. Mrs South Africa embraces women of all shapes and sizes, and promotes confidence and being comfortable in your own skin.
17. Who Oversees The Judging?
Mrs South Africa is run according to international standards, following a strictly audited process and winners are chosen by an independent Selection Committee. PKF Octagon. The Judging process, for each stage of the competition, is discussed with the contestants, in advance. Contestants will be required to model in swimwear, as per International Pageantry regulations during Semis Judging, Finals Judging and on-stage during Prelims & the Finale Crowning event. We embrace women of all shapes and sizes, and our program promotes confidence and being comfortable in your own skin.
Contestants understand that the Judges’ decisions are Final and other than the results announced on stage, no other results will be made available, at any other stage. Contestants understand that no correspondence will be entered into with the Selection Committee, Auditors, Mrs. SA Management Team, or any other associates/affiliates therewith, at any stage, even in future, with regards to the Mrs SA Judging processes. Accordingly, there is no right of appeal against the results of Mrs SA Judging processes, at any stage.
18. What Is My Involvement With The Official Charities?
Mrs South Africa has partnered with great official charities, which make a significant contribution nationally. Semi-finalists are invited to create awareness for them and attend official charities’ events. A Finalist will host a fundraiser for one of the official charities. 19. I Have Completed My Online Entry Form. What Happens Next?
Once all the steps above are completed, entrants will be emailed by the Mrs South Africa office and will receive further information in due course. A valid operational email address must be completed on the entry form by the entrant, to allow for Mrs South Africa to communicate with all entrants. Should an entrant not provide a valid working email address, Mrs South Africa Pty Ltd will not be held responsible for any comms they do not receive. All entry forms will be screened in January 2026. Eligible entrants will be invited to a compulsory National Casting at the beginning of February 2026. More information on this will be provided closer to the time.
20. What Dates Should I Be Aware Of?
Entrants should consult the draft 2026 Calendar, which will be up on the website in December 2025.
21. I Have A Few Other Questions. Who Can I Contact?
Due to the high volume of queries, queries must be directed to Marlene Reddy-Ribeiro, Chief Operating Officer, by email only at marlene@mrssouthafrica.co.za. Given the high volume of entries and queries, WhatsApp will not be used as a means of communication. Please note the office is closed from 15th December 2025 and re-opens Monday 5th January 2026.
